Tis a sad day in the snowboarding community...one of the founding fathers has passed in the recent BC avalanche.

Rest in Peace brother, you will be missed.

Very sad news, brings home the danger you can put yourself in when you're in the mountains, if someone as experienced as Craig Kelly can be killed like this then it could easily happen to you as well.
Seems like a bad year all round for the snowboard community, young French pro Tristan Picot was also killed by an avalanche a couple of weeks ago.
Be careful out there you crazy kids.

I've never been sad over any public figure's death in the past - never. Until today. I grew up watching Craig Kelly, I owned his first board, I would watch his videos over and over. Craig represented the true spirit of snow riding for me.
I dedicate this photo to Craig. It is some of him that sent me to the back country. Before I went I was scared shitless about avalanches. Now I know what compels a man to travel these areas of our planet and endure such risks.

I used to ride a Craig Kelly back in the day and a Jeff Brushie. I miss those days in 1990.

ya i live near there, heard about 7 people dieing in a avi, had to go track down my friends to make sure, makes me sick to my stomach, he had a 2 year old daughter, the avi conditions are just stupid right now, it was like 14 people caught in the avalance, it is like unheard of.

i remember watching chill over and over, getting amped to go ride - before snowboarding even meant anything. he pushed me into all of this and now to see him go is another note on how powerful nature can be.
i hope there is a endless supply of pow where you are now.

I had no idea Craig Kelly passed away until I read this thread. My condolences go out to his family and friends. He was one of the greatest snowboarders and people ever. You will be missed.
