bump this bitch.
i mean what can you say bad about this band? i saw them on tour summer before last: best night of my life.
let's get some more opinions. i especially want to hear from some of you that 'don't get it'
- jking760
i consider Thom (who, let's be honest is nearly ALL of what Radiohead IS) is a genius, musically speaking.. and he is incredibly intellectual.

up until about 3 or 4 years ago i didnt really like radiohead.
it wasnt until i got into dj shadow that i started listening to radiohead. ok computer took a lot of inspiration from shadow after they toured with him. in fact Airbag is inspired by working with a 3 second drum loop and creating a song around that (shadow styl;ee) the song was in fact going to be called "last night an airbag saved my life"....
anyway....i've bought all their albums since but non has beaten ok computer in my eyes - all the songs are GOOD songs.
On this Kid A album there is too much 'wank'. too much fucking about. In my opinion quite a lot of stuff on their albums is 'experimental' - the sort of shit that anyone with a 4track and fx can do. I DONT think that high profile bands like radiohead should erlease stuff like this on a MAIN album . fair enough , maybe an experimantal or bootleg but not something people are paying good money for. Experimental stuff is for the STUDIO - not the ALBUM!.dont get me wrong. they are great! but there's too much 'wank' in there though.

what's 'wank'?

man, you guys are completely forgetting Johnny Greenwood.
INCREDIBLE musician. that is the dude behind Thom that no one really notices.
ive been a fan since Pablo Honey and i'll keep following til... well, whenever.

it's a progress of ideas/music development when you listening to radiohead from day 1, you can really judge a band from one or two albums...
you might find the cutup and electronics sounds lame in Kid A when you compare to Aphex Twin or other crazy stuffs from warp or mego or others, but indeed it's a HUGE and BRAVE steps to a band that used to play guitar-bass-drum music...
except you're looking more some more one hit wonder...

yeah jonny is great, from his "abrasive guitar" to those weird organs and electronics...
he's from a traditional music background and do strings arrangements for the band also...

johnny has been one of my #1 dawgs for years now.
not that the rest of the band isnt awesome, it's just that between johnny and thom, those guys will never be standing still.
- jking760
yap, i didn't think some of the Kid A leftovers on Amnesiac were that hot. However, whether or not 'experimental' music should be released or not, isn't that what bands like Stereolab and Aphex Twin do? What's wrong with putting out what you're up to musically, whether or not it is categorized by people as experimental and worthy as a full-lengh album?

got news for you guys, Radiohead is all studio!!! That sound is perfected by studio engineers and the when they play live they sound nothing like their albums. It's called original ideas with great engineers. That's it! Bom!

the exprimental aspect and the disorganized sound is obviously done on purpose. it's comparable to Avant-Garde jazz from the likes of Eric Dolphy etc. However, they are just doing it in a post-modern way. It's still all studio anyway~

It's funny cos I thought they were one of the best live band around...but hey what do I know !!!
- breeding0
i dunno about that jason - they do put on a killer live show.
Johnny Greenwood is a fucking amazing musician as biofreak mentioned.
You've got to give credit to the whole band though, ive played the drums for 16years and it took me close to a month to get the drum part to morning bell down.

I saw them live and thought they were average at best and have seen over 200 shows.

Kid A made some weird reaction on my head while i was listening to it... don't know why, but i really enjoy radiohead...
- jayb0

i am feeling way too good about myself... i think i'll turn on some radiohead and feel bad about my life.

jasonX:
i'm thinking of the opposite, they're playing much better in live than in the studio...

it's ok to be a critique, but don't be a hater
