For the benefit of WRPI-FM—and, not incidentally, for the cultural benefit of supporting dissent in time of war—the Unamerican Film Festival is coming to Troy. This is after a world premiere in Cannes, and stops in Tokyo, Berlin and Paris. Named ironically after the notorious House Committee on Un-American Activities, which pioneered Communist witch hunts during the Cold War, this festival of short films has been programmed, according to founders to tackle subjects ignored by the mainstream media—“from white privilege and anti-globalization to media bias and the anti-war movement.”
The Unamerican Film Festival will make its local premiere on Monday (March 24) at 7 PM in the Chapel + Cultural Center (2125 Burdett Ave., Troy). It is being presented as a fundraiser for WRPI, and a donation of $10 is suggested.
I am a jock at wrpi, come out and support us and see some good films if you can.
