i think if you're not deep within that particular music/language/culture, then you don't connect. I bet hiphop fans don't get the music you're into either.
On another note, I think hip hop contains varients on the themes of sex, violence, gangsters, and poverty set at a music timing good enough to play at parties, to dance to and also to have sex with. It's a social kind of music in some respects. I tuned out of hip hop years ago, but this urban music genre, although quite young, will be here for years entertaining and also turning on many females across the species.
