agree find out what you will be doing. like will you be the one designing the ads for the magazine too? or the advertisers will sending it to you. find out if you are to design at their printer desire cropping and color schemes. And if you have to take the photo for the cover and for the relating articles. when you have all the info you then calculate you think it would take you to do this. draw out a draft step by step to show them your procedure and process. next do an average of how much time you will spend on it and do it by your own estimate hourly rate but quote them a single price. like for instance when i am give a project i be like hmmm a website? lets see 8 hours a day for 5 days i guess for the amount of work it is and for what its worth i say 20bucks an hour so you times 8hrx20rate = 160x5days to finish its 800 + your bs/estimated coving your end + 500 = 1300 total. ok i said too much but ya let meknow if you need more detail lol
