    swollenelbow- it's because some of the links, when you open them, cause the page to go off the page in the vertical direction. this causes a scrollbar to appear and then dissappear when closed. Everything i did is scaled to 100% in the x direction, so that causes the shift. i felt it was a small trade off for having the site scale to the browser window. there might be a more elegant solution, but i'm not really a web developer. :-)
