actually I heard the court appointed doctor say on npr today that the movement and sounds she made were consistant with someone in a persistant vegitative state and not a sign of conscious brain activity.

------'conscious' is a key word...
... but aren't we unconscious when we're asleep?
Those movements and sounds are triggered by something - and again... not to get repetitive - aren't all movements / actions / sounds etc triggered by the brain?
