I've had clients suggesting all kinds of weird stuff because "it's cheap". An advice would be to suggest something to them you're personally experienced with (or firms that are known / good). If you set it up for them and it's shit they'll probably put the blame on you.
Tell them the little extra $ is always worth it when it comes to hosting.
