Trust me, I've looked into this as well. It's QUITE expensive. There is not a company that is going to take the time to do this and if they do do it for a few pieces they are gonna' charge you a buttload.
A work colleague and I were BSing at lunch about taking .AI/.EPS files and running them somehow into a format that would allow you to pattern wood carving, etc. Automate the thing. Expensive, but a great idea.
