    I was in similar situation and I went for it. Best learning experience I ever had. I ended up leaving because I knew it was not what I wanted.

    Small business can be great, but often they expect the world from you and though the pay seems nice, it doesn't make up for the 24 7 that your dedicating to the job. Maybe that wouldn't be a problem, because you get the chance to build a sweet portfolio, right? But your portfolio looks like someone elses terds because the boss has final say, and his tastes are "different". Besides the fact that you don't have the time to come up with any kick-ass work, because the 27 projects your working on are due in 5 minutes. So you decide to redo your portfolio on your free time, but you don't have any free time.

    If money is all you want, then you'll be set up. If progress is what you want, then think about it.

    haha... maybe I'm just bitter, and maybe this doesn't apply to your prospective company.

    Ask yourself:

    Is design your career, or your discipline?
