i like your ambitions, nearly there i reckon - i agree with function82 comments - to me the background is a bit heavy also. maybe if it were on like a faded piece of white paper instead of dark brown.
try to establish a main focal point - potentially by limiting colour use to only the important bits.
look at some more bauhaus books - they never have more than one angle to lay the type on - 45deg/right angles... hope it helps.
