Na, not about fear at all, just customization. I respect that some people come here for threads about jokes, sex, movies, etc. I come here for threads about design, so I ignore everyone who starts threads about stuff I'm not interested in. The downside is I lose some choice humor and good laughs, the upside is the site is leaner, more useful, and more focused on what I want. I respect it's not a feature that everyone is interested in, but I think it's brilliant.
