Anyone using a M1 Macbook had a 'Your system has run out of application memory' warning while using after effects?
Was getting all the final clips together I'd rendered out in Blender smooth as fuuuuuuck then comping them together in After Effects, then it just decided to use up 198 gigs of memory on my machine and take ages to render even the simplest of clips.
Ended up missing seeing Max Cooper up til 4am doing renders and drove home from the studio in full sunshine.
    Seems it's a common issue.
It's been mad doing loads of node based loops in Blender that run super fast and easy and After Effects still fucking struggle even on a super fast machine.
    Total pain in the balls

    • is your cache full? i cleared out 540gb last week, magically the warnings went away.imbecile
    • I have a limit of 92gb in the cache and do regular cleans, it's been fine until yesterday, but seems it happens...
      540 gig!?!

    • i was surprised myself. I was ready to buy an ext hdd thinking i'd filled it up with work but after checking the client volume i knew something was amissimbecile
    • I use AE weekly and haven't had that issue, though. fingers crossedimbecile
    • I'm hoping I can find a fix, I do wonder if it's maybe some of the codecs from the Blender renders that are messing with the files.PhanLo
    • One guy in that thread replaced his motherboard thinking it was his machine. OoyahPhanLo
    • I think it might have been some of the large amount of layers in 4K, but I'll do some testsPhanLo
    • I regularly go over 500GB of cache on dedicated scratch drive. AE does get janky when it's that large, probably an indexing thing.evilpeacock
    • yeah, was constantly restarting on the last project i did, was far worse in the previous version of AE but still get it occasionallykingsteven
    • Had the same with an M1 Laptop. Posted a couple pages back. Stopped when I started using an Ex-SSD to handle Cache.HAYZ1LLLA
