Here's something the media seems to avoid talking about too much...what are the current nuclear arsenals of USA and Russia?

First the number of confirmed nuclear weapons in the world

The most powerful nuclear bombs ever tested, compared with those dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki

This shows the nuclear weapons that can currently be deployed by either side. Russia's RS-28, nicknamed "Satan II" is equivalent to "Tsar Bomb" above.

Then finally, an article making the case that none of this matters because we will all die anyway.

    https://www.sandboxx.us/blog/rus…

    • Huh, I wasn't aware 'til I checked just how Fucking Big that Satan II actually is.

      Arsehole relics. Fuck Russia.
      Nairn
    • Would love to know how well these weapons have been maintained and are operation judging by the res tof their military. Same applies to US I guess also.fadein11
    • *operationalfadein11
    • Do cold war nukes have a sell by date? :)fadein11
    • not that it really matters of coursefadein11
    • Yeah this is a very real question...is it really the case that Russia can launch Satan II but they can't organize a military supply convoy?yuekit
    • Of course. They have world class rocketry skills and Satan II is basically just a big rocket. Nuke tech is surprisingly dumb too, for the most part.Nairn
    • Anyway how stupid are humans? That article mentions that in 1987, peak year of nuclear proliferation, USA + USSR together had over 61,000 nuclear weapons.yuekit
    • ..I mean, once you've had 60+ years practice, it's 'surprisingly dumb' :)Nairn
    • Russia's focused most of the 'little' money it does spend on armaments on maintaining and apparently developing its nukes. That's basically their only ace.Nairn
    • On the plus side, it appears that fears of a nuclear winter might have been a bit over-inflated according to recent-ish research, so that's ..er.. good?Nairn
    • interesting stuff, thanks for increasing my anxiety tenfold :)fadein11
    • Nobody is using all this rocket shit. Or planes!
All modern nuclear arsenals use submarines as delivery platform.
      grafician
    • Using submarines and multiple-warheads projectiles is the most efficient delivery system. Parking a sub near the coast and launching gives the enemy minutesgrafician
    • ... in response time. Basically game over in 1 min in some cases.
Now go google what countries have nuclear subs :)
      grafician
    • The Great Filter was indeed the nuclear age...grafician
    • wtf do submarines fire, then? And we appear to be very specifically talking about the Satan II, which is .. an icbm rocket with multiple warheads. Perhaps read.Nairn
    • he thought the sub blew upfadein11
    • I wish they’d fuckin’ use them already, pussiesscarabin
    • @fade - that's what that status 6 thing's purported to do :/Nairn
    • woah, had never heard of that one.fadein11
    • Read the article at the end...Status-6 creates a "radioactive tsunami."yuekit
    • blimey, insanefadein11
