Guys, you were right.
Today, I went to the new skatepark for the first time ever. Actually have never been to a skatepark in my life. I was able to do some beginner jumps and basically just rolled around.
Then, I thought, I'll try what it feels like if I roll up a ramp. And on the way up, I decide to better get off the board. I did not even fall, but stopped my weight so stupidly with the right foot that my ankle now is swollen and blue.
Damn.
- It's good to do some stretching exercises beforehand too. I never used to think about stuff like that but as we get older our bodies aren't used to the moves.PhanLo
- Yes, warning up and stretching sounds like something I should do in the future.SimonFFM

- Man...I fell in August and still have pain in my arm. I went a couple of times but in the last two weeks it was just impossible. Weather is getting worse, so...oey_oey
- ...lets see when it's possible again.oey_oey
- Larger transitions... i.e.- pools/bowls and vert ramps are actually safer than most technical skateparks... those short falls are what get you.jonny_quest_lives
- Currently in physical therapy for a SLAP tear in my shoulder from a quick fall at a skatepark. Shoulders are very complex as are hands.jonny_quest_lives
- Ouch. I have bruises just from reading what happened.babydick

- as much as I hate to say it.. skateboarding is kids.. they bounce better. I would love to skateboard again .. but I also love my knees functioning and my wristsautoflavour
- I remember in my mid 20's when I was still skating a friend of my fell down some stairs and broke both his wrists.. should have fallen better I know..autoflavour
- working graphic design with 2 busted wrists was not prettyautoflavour
- I was wearing wrist protection. And I have to admit, I didn't think I could hurt my ankle just from jumping off the board. Lesson learned.SimonFFM
- Rest. Heal. Get back out there. We have old-man bodies but at least we still try. No shame in continuing to have funmisterhow
- So true. I felt so alive reviving my inner child rolling around.SimonFFM
