I was so stressed when I lost my job earlier this year due to Covid, but with intense persistence I had two offers within six weeks.
Now, a few months later, I'm getting a few unsolicited direct messages coming in from hiring teams at other agencies.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Spend a few dedicated weeks on making your portfolio and your LinkedIn better than everyone else's you've seen and things come your way.
If you're struggling out there, I feel you. Keep looking. When you get discouraged, just keeping going. When you've absolutely had it and have to scream: shut your computer down, lock up your phone, take a walk, have a beer in the tub and go to bed. Get up tomorrow and start again, it's fine. You can do it.

- Effort should be: 90% portfolio & L.I. 5% applying for jobs. 4% interview practice. 1% learning to deal with a steady stream of rejection.nb

- Yeah you gotta accept that you need to be in the top 3 portfolios if you want an interview. Best if you're leagues above the others. This is obviously hard worknb
- Being a likeable well spoken person with good experience goes a long way too :)monospaced
- It does! But it's just so hard to even get an interview. Once you get the interview, personality goes the rest of the way.nb

- Took me good part of 6 months to get my portfolio website together: designing, coding it, creating new work for it, finding best ways to present works.shapesalad
- In my last job, my portfolio was best the boss had seen out of 300+ websites, they'd already made mind up to hire me before interview.shapesalad
- How you present your work can go a long way to getting a job. Even if the work itself is tired and old.shapesalad
- Guess I've got to spend another 6 months updating it now...shapesalad
