Given he's a Northern monkey and didn't want to be King anyway, his fate seemed appropriate.
That said, I couldn't really figure out why they didn't just wait for The Unsullied to fuck off and then make him King, but whatever.
As Hayzilla rightly points out, it's a series about dragons and zombies - no need to get our panties in a bunch about it all.

THAT said - the whole arc completion ofthe existential threat that was the Undead's march south was a little lacklustre.
Anyway.
