my friend has an interesting theory that the big battle next week will not actually feature the night king - that in fact the white walkers vs winterfell is a decoy and the night king / real army / dragon are bypassing winterfell to go to king's landing, will obliterate cersi and her army, and then the survivors of winterfell (probably most of the main cast / dragons) will have to march on king's landing in a literal battle for the throne

    • which in most narrative ways, makes sense as cersi decided to try and avoid fighting the dead so she becomes one, sets up a pretty ultimate final actcolin_s
    • I like that theory. I don't think it'll come to fruition, but I could be wrong! Nighty Boy King has to smash ol' three eyes before anything else.robthelad
    • Then the question is why even bother with the showdown at winterfell. All he had to do is take that invincible dragon and destroy King's Landing as soon as hezarkonite
    • got the damn thing...zarkonite
    • yeah I think the final battle will be at king's landing for the iron throne, this is the penultimate battle. could be a decoy but the walkers could also handily_niko
    • ...lose tanks to dragons glass, setting up the final battle between cersie vs the united armies._niko
    • or this is the red wedding on a larger scale and everybody dies. Except Cerise, she marries the night king and is in for an eternity of cold, cold boning_niko
    • good theory!Bennn
    • Good theory and makes sense. This coming battle is too early to be the main event.Hayzilla
