Jim Acosta: "On the children who are being separated from their families as they come across the border, the attorney general earlier today said there is justification for this in the Bible. Where does it say in the Bible that it's moral to take children away from their mothers?"
Sarah Huckabee Sanders: “I’m not aware of the attorney general’s comments or what he would be referencing. I can say that it is very biblical to enforce the law. That is actually repeated a number of times throughout the bible.”

Headline: “Sarah Huckabee Sanders Cites Bible As Reason To Detain Immigrant Children”

In a roundabout way you could claim that that headline is right but that would be acting in bad faith. I think most us clearly interpret that headline as if she would have said: “Clearly Psalm 127:3-5 says ‘Thou shalt detain the offspring of those who trespass the borders of Canaan’.”

She cited the bible as a reason to enforce the law, NOT as a reason to detain immigrant children. There is a difference. Once we get this clickbait bullshit out of the way we can start focusing on the real issue. That is why I’m taking the time to make the distinction.

    • The headline is a little clickbaity I guess. I did want to share the video only but it's not on YouTube (or I couldn't find it). I should have said watch thefadein11
    • video and not quoted the article. I had seen the video only on Facebook originally. Not sure why I am wasting my time explaining as she's still a cunt :)fadein11
    • "I think most us clearly interpret that headline as if she would have said..." Well I can't speak for anyone else but I didn't. You could have saved yourselfyuekit
    • the trouble writing that mini essay lol.yuekit
    • Her comment was dumb on multiple levels. First of all bringing religion into it and then the notion that because the Bible says follow the law, it's "moral"yuekit
    • LOL indeed.soundofreason
    • from a Christian POV to follow ANY law no matter how inhumane. I'm pretty sure that's what the controversy is about.yuekit
    • yep, and that's why I shared it.fadein11
    • @yuekit
I don't know if you have been able to discern this from my mini essay, I am only objecting to the the title. I too want to get back to the real issue.

    • Otherwise, let's take this over the religion thread.soundofreason
    • I thought it was the reporter that brought religion into the discussion. I'm going to need to watch it a third time.soundofreason
    • The attorney general brought religion into it and the reporter raised that.fadein11
    • Also: https://www.youtube.…
I guess the HuffPost is #winning
      soundofreason
    • You even quoted that part :)fadein11
    • I forgot, maybe because it wasn't in the video.
      #practice We're talking about practice!

    • We need to get to the bottom of this!soundofreason
    • It was in the video.fadein11
    • New headline:
"Attorney general cites Bible as reason to detain immigrant children which then reporter asks Sarah Huckabee Sanders about, to which she replies:”
      soundofreason
    • Shit, ran out of space!soundofreason
    • "Not in the video" as in the Attorney General wasn't present in the discussion therefore he did not bring it up in that conversation.
      Dude, we're so petty :-)
      soundofreason
    • What does rerendered think?fadein11
    • Since we're both the same person probably not much different than I.soundofreason
    • lolfadein11
    • I wondered if you had different online personas.fadein11
    • Let pockets serve as a lesson.soundofreason
    • "It is very Biblical to enforce the law." Guess who else uses Religion to justify their atrocities. (ISIS)
Isn't it ironic? Don't you think?
      kona
    • The Bible isn’t a valid reason to uphold law though. The very idea is absolutely ludicrous.monospaced
    • soundofreason "free thinker" QBN Super TrollLMFAO
    • but the law does in fact call for the seperation of children from their parents, it just wasn't enforced under Obama. Sessions issued a "zero tolerance" memo.zarkonite
    • So I think it's ok to imply she did, because the other bible nut made a rule that called for separating children from their parents.zarkonite
