We went a few years ago. Did Dubrovnik and Split.

Dubrovnik is cool if you are into Game of Thrones you can go spotting all the locations. We stayed in a lovely little apartment at the tiny West Harbour - it's a beautiful little quiet harbour that the locals and lovers sit out at night and chill at - its also a GoT location.
Dubrovnik is a cruise stop off city so be prepared for big groups of granny tourists.

We hired a car and went to Split for a few days. Split is a different vibe, a much younger cooler vibe. Beautiful old walled town to walk around. Lots of expensive restaurants at the seafront with all the nice yachts and boats in the harbour. Visit Restaurant/Tavern Fife (google it) it's where the locals go for beers and quality no frill seafood - the deep fried baby squid is killer!

Then we headed back to Dubrovnik for a few days chillout at a resort hotel where everything was included. We didnt have to worry about preparing or going out for meals which was really chill and not the type of holiday we normally do.

In the past week I've seen a lot of friend post on social that they are going/there/been to dubrovnik which is strange.

Split and the islands seem to be a pretty popular place to go for the partying young kids. Island hopping on party boats seems to be the thing to do.
