Apart from some annoyances here and there I don't understand all the hate for Adobe on here. Their stuff is cheaper than ever. $50-100 bucks per month, that's like a cup of coffee every morning per month. Or if you don't make money with it and just use it for fun/ personal use you can torrent it. And their tools got so much more powerful.

Yes there are some alternatives out there but nothing compares to it in complexity and options. And it's also industry standard.

    • No. It's. Not. Cheaper.
It IS, if you bought every release - but most people didn't do taht, preferring to skip a release or two.

    • I seriously can't get my head around why people don't appear to be able to see this.detritus
    • Huh? The standard "All Apps" per year is $53 bucks per month. I really don't get it how that is expensive?M01XXX
    • A) I'm not US
      b) My point comparison is previously being able to buy a release every 2-4 years, not every year.
      detritus
    • C) I don't have or need the whole suite.detritus
    • D) Personally, as I've said repeatedly - I don't ven need CC except to open client files. ALL the functionality I need and use I have on my CS4 CD.detritus
    • E) Once every fucker moves to a subscription model, then see how much of an eye you have on your monthly spend.detritus
    • You're in London/ UK? It's £50/a month. You can't afford that?M01XXX
    • F) https://i.pinimg.com…detritus
    • If you just need to open files then why not just torrent it. Geez.M01XXX
    • old days: start a trade, buy the tools for the trade, earn money. replace tools when required.inteliboy
    • today: start a trade, buy the tools (software), buy it again, and again, every day, for years, decades, if not till the day you die.inteliboy
    • If a freelancer makes $3K-6K or more per month you're saying $50 bucks/mo is too much? WTFM01XXX
    • Oh God, here we go again. of course I can afford it - THAT IS NOT THE POINT. If you're happy being ripped off, fine - I am not. Nor are others.detritus
    • @inteliboy - I actually wrote a long diatribe using your exact-same analogy last time I argued about this here :) ..detritus
    • How are you being ripped off? Like I said, if you just need to open client files torrent it. If you make $$ with it I don't see how $50/mo is too expensive.M01XXX
    • its over priced its a closed of system. It also is an ageing product. Its not compatible with other softwares and their colour management is dire.mugwart
    • .. except mine added the conceit of a tool which periodically renders itself incompatible with itself, for no good reason.detritus
    • A plumber kits out his van with tools once. can use for 10+ years. A designer pays £500 X 10 years = £5000 + how many macs? = probably same cost as plumbershapesalad
    • I fucking hate adobe!mugwart
    • ^difference is plumbers tools don't get upgraded every 6 months. They just work. His tools are solid and reliable. Ours crash and don't work when we upgrade osxshapesalad
    • well, besides van, plumbers tools are probably max £2k if he went all fancy. Buy a used van, probably 10year costs are lot less than a designers.shapesalad
    • I regret not going into plumbing. Independent, mobile, not sat at desk all day. Don't need to relearn tools every few years. Don't need upgrades.shapesalad
    • Then stop complaining and go get a plumber job. I'm sure you'd be much happier then than moaning about Adobe :)M01XXX
    • we shouldn't ignore this. Its a terrible ecosystem and one that needs to be stood against. Raise up your wacom pens and revolt!mugwart
    • It's not hate, it's resentment - Adobe used to be a beloved company to me, now I just see them as money-wringing cunts who overcharge for the same softwaredetritus
    • I've been using for 20 years now, and paying for for at least 15. It's the same fucking thing, bar some pointless updates.detritus
    • The more this model's agreed-with, the more it'll be rolled out and the more you'll see how expensive and damaging it is.detritus
    • ^ yep.Gucci
    • I ran CS2 for 4 years and it cost less than £1kkingsteven
    • yeah, but can a plumber open an illustrator file with a wrench that he pays for on hire purchase?Fax_Benson
    • If I have £40 extra in my pocket each month, I can finally afford that distance learning plumbing course.detritus
    • their software are slower than ever always requiring more computer ressourcesBennn
    • You guys are so mean to Adobe.M01XXX
    • i met a few execs in the olden days and they talked openly about the level of piracy and well aware of the extent. their business holds a monopoly for profitkingsteven
    • and development motivated as insurance against it. photoshop wouldn't be in the dictionary if there hadn't been millions of pirated copies, with CC they controlkingsteven
    • the tap. anyway, i'd find it difficult to have any enamourment for such companies. the fact i have to use their software every day and it's an utter pain in thekingsteven
    • - hole. unsurprising really.kingsteven
    • 1. You have no knowledge or whatsoever about a lot of things in adobe products because of the complexity of the tools.sted
    • 2. Production tools are so f expensive for teams.sted
    • 3. And the most important thing in my aspect of view: CC is a scam. they miss 10 year old requests and it's and online updated stuff WHAT THE FUCK.sted
    • I mean i draw with vectors in ps since 2002 and it's exactly the same today. Including the import/export formats and options.sted
    • And still we're using a tool what was update 3 times just in the last month. So
      adobe products great
      adobe development sucks.
      sted
    • I don't smoke, don't take any drugs, I don't drink much alcohol or party much. I make good $$ so why would I complain about $50/mo for all Adobe CC apps?M01XXX
    • Again, "If you're happy being ripped off, fine - I am not. Nor are others".
      +1 Sted, others.
      detritus
    • I don't feel ripped off at all for $50/mo with all CC apps and supporting future development. It's less than a cup of coffee each day a month.M01XXX
    • We use the same core of tools and functions since years in Photoshop. They add a bunch of toys and functions we never really use. And it = more syst ressourcesBennn
    • this feels a bit like a circle here. M01XXX, you asked a simple question, you got your answer. You may not like it. You may not 'get it'....exador1
    • you may disagree with it with all your heart. but...and this is the point. YOU'VE BEEN ANSWEREDexador1
    • and for the record, my company here pays for the subscription, I have access to all of the software, and I only really use 3. photoshop, Illustrator & Indesign.exador1
    • for basically EVERYTHING else, I use FIGMA now, which is fucking incredible.exador1
    • all my design work now is in FIGMA. only time I use photoshop at all (almost feels weird to open it up) is if I need to actually mess around with a photo...exador1
    • no design work at all now in adobe stuff tbh, it's all done in FIGMA... i keep illustrator around because for logo work, it's still the tits... and indesignexador1
    • for a once-a-month print project...exador1
    • I'll basically have to keep adobe around for those 3 things... the rest is useless to me.exador1
    • so yeah, paying 'monthly' for those 3 things feels fucked up to me too.exador1
    • i too am tired of being roped, tied and strung up to be pounded in the ass month after monthfuturefood
    • ^woops, meant for blog thread ;Pfuturefood
    • You guys sound like you earn $200 a month. $50 a month for all the CC apps is cheap imo.M01XXX
    • Smart people understand the difference between cost and value. When you get older, maybe you'll learn.ETM
    • Many have clearly outlined the use cases where the product is hardly used, but required on-hand, and they have no option than pay an unreasonable price forETM
    • it compared to it's usage (value). Let's not forget their difficult process for cancelling a subscription without paying a penalty.ETM
    • If you want it on a true monthly plan, rather than annual contract, paid monthly, then it's $80 USD per month.ETM
    • If you just use it little and to open files then torrent it, FFS.M01XXX
    • I don't drink coffee!!pango
    • jesus fucking christ...exador1
    • It's a steal in my book. I get buckets of monies in return.fyoucher1
    • Fuck Adobe for discontinuing Fireworks — the best web design application bar none for over a decade — and replacing it with nothing. XD... LOL!mort_
    • ^what? You didn't like muse??? :)futurefood
    • One full billable day pays the whole year of CC, one week pays all the hardware I can use for 3+ years.mekk
    • mekk, fyoucher... M01XXX is the only one bringing up the cost. Most folks understand that they need CC and pricing less flexible/ more expensive than CS was.kingsteven
    • it's really not that hard to understand that people have issues with something they pay for and use every day.kingsteven
