I can't believe that After Effects still doesn't have a proper media import file manager/ window. Since it's existence AE's files/ media import has remained the same.

What I mean is and what is especially annoying: You try to import a video sequence that is made of .tiff's or .tga's or any other image format like 3D passes. And you then have to scroll through 100's and 100's of image files to pick the right sequence!

WTF. Why can't the sequences be grouped as one thumbnail and that allows you to scrub through it as well.

Like in FCP for example in screenshot below (although those are just video files and not image sequences but you get the idea...) or any other video editor or compositing tool.

    • Also what's up with that scroll wheel function, am I right? What year is it?nb
    • what? you select one file in your folder of image sequence, and it brings it all in. then you edit as required. just keep sequences organisedshapesalad
    • I know that but I don't want to have to scroll endlessly to get to each sequence. Why can't they group image sequences as thumbnails?M01XXX
    • Like each image sequence/ version as one thumbnail as in screenshot. And maybe with scrub playback preview function. Can't be that difficult.M01XXX
