Closing in on a purchase of a car today. If all goes well, I'll be a new owner of a really clean, 1973 VW Super Beetle.

Not this exact car pictured, but close. Those seller better be for real.

    • When I grow up I'm going to buy an old Beetle and covert it to electric. It's been an idle fantasy of mine for a good 15 years now.detritus

    • a couple of good pieces of advice. 1) GET THIS BOOK: https://www.amazon.c…GM278
    • 2) Always carry a spare throttle cable and cable pin (the little barrel and bolt that hold it to the carb)GM278
    • 3) get a small basic set of metric tools that you can keep under the back seat on the drivers side (the passenger side has the battery)GM278

    • So clean! Not bad for a SB. Only thing I'd update is the disc conversion on the front. (The kit is around 200 bucks)GM278
    • Down the line if you need more pep you can bump the motor to 1776. I wouldn't go any larger or you'd make it un-streetable. (don't get me started) hahaGM278
    • might hit you up sometime to chat GM.shellie
    • A lifetime ago I paid for university as an aircooled VW mechanic. Ping me with any questions.GM278
