I have an interview coming up and i'm trying to figure out the best way to present my work. It has been a few years since I had to do this.
Most everything i do now is digital (digital media/social graphics, mobile apps, tv streaming app, ect). I do have some print/advertising projects from my past. Is it bad to just use my laptop and show PDFs? I don't want to rely on my portfolio site b/c i can't plan on having internet connection.
Wondering what some of you guys do or like to see on an interview. Thanks!
- if you like your portfolio site and it is up to date, create hotspot on phone, connect, make website full screen and jobs a goodun.fadein11
- if you don't think your site represents you as well as you'd like, create a presentation in Keynote or possibly PDF yep.fadein11
- i interview designers regularly, most impactful are large colorful prints on sturdy media and/or an iPad you can swipe through. Bring your own wi-fi/data.imbecile
- large colourful prints of digital work imbecile? that surprises me.
Saying that I haven't had a job interview in 20 years, I just show prospective clients workfadein11 - Thanks for the idea Fadein! I completely forgot about setting up a hotspot with my phone. I do like the way my portfolio site represents my work.OP31
- Imbecile, I feel ya with the print outs, its always nice to have something tangible. Just don't think my digital work would be well represented.OP31
- no probs.fadein11
- we hire print illustrators, we want to see people proud of their work, not everything is interactive design hereimbecile
- if someone showed me a print of a website, I may look at them strange. :Dimbecile
