If you're passing a University in the next month and see the UCU pickets give them some support. I've worked in a university for 6 years now - this will be my first time on strike. Not one person wants to be there. The universities are refusing to negotiate on their plan to cut our pensions to the tune of about £200k each... based on flawed figures... with alternatives on the table... at a time when wages have dropped so far below the public sector we already can't attract skilled people to fill technical roles, universities have huge surplus from tuition fees and making huge profits for their stakeholders.

    • sorry, but i won't. abandoning the students at a critical time with exams coming up is so fucking selfish.hans_glib
    • hah hans, a strike is meant to be as disruptive as possible. but in reality i know i'm the only one striking in my team because all my work runs up to the startkingsteven
    • of the semester... so i can. most lecturers love their subjects and will do anything for their students. universities will not be in total shut down.kingsteven
