The only ppl who really lead the charge or are motivated to solving the gun issue are those who are directly affected by gun violence. Everyone else just gives a "thoughts and prayers" and washes their hands with it. Recently we had a mass shooting in Vegas, Texas and now this and still the only thing that gets done is more politicians protecting the NRA. I wonder how their opinions would change if the bullets had flown past their loved ones heads.

I hate to say it, but it takes an event on such a massive scale to prompt everyone to really act. Ppl who grew up during the Great depression and went on to fight during WWII are known as the greatest generation....because they all worked together to get us through some of the worst times. But it took an attack on US soil to rally everyone.

In the months after 9/11 everyone in NYC sort of pooled together and acted like a community. I noticed a real shift in ppl. (more volunteering and a bit more overall kindness) Albeit it was short lived and everyone went back to business as usual..and yes, it really upset me to see tourists taking photos standing in front of the WTC site. But for a moment there was a shift.

I just can't imagine what it will really take for us to act and maybe someday be looked at as the "greatest generation to solve gun violence"

Furthermore, I really believe we need to stop publishing the names of the ppl who commit these crimes. This Cruz kid now has his 15 seconds of fame, he should be given a number and stuck in the deepest darkest hole as an example to others that would commit these types of horrific acts....that they WON'T be remembered.

    Sorry for the long post.

    • Given you're the 'greatest generation' to buy, support, wear & sing violent gangsta music, chances are zero. Shootings are an expression of US culture.BustySaintClaire
    • Cars & guns; total Americana. For many years, EVERY DAY in USA, 100 people die from each. Bitching about a shooting is like whining when it rains heavy.BustySaintClaire
