Finally got out to see it.

    ***SPOILERS***

I really liked it for it's entertainment factor and because I love the series. Tons of beautiful shots and the action scenes were bad-ass, I demolished my popcorn on the first fight scene! lol. That Poe attack was fire!

As for the story, mmmmm... it's ok. I feel like whats holding it back is the fact that there's an expectation that things will follow the previous events... like Rey and Kylo being related. Why not just make her someone else's kid and just leave it at that?

When the series decides to go in it's own direction and break away from the other movies, then the story will be compelling.

Don't get me wrong, it should still be grounded in the canon timeline, but theres no need to re-live the "I am your father" moments. I think Rogue One did this really well, they stayed with in their parameters and made a completely new story.

Also, there's just some weird stuff going on. Who the fuck was Snoke??? and why was he even around??? Was he just hangin out waiting for the Emperor to fail so he can make his move??? Is it safe to say there's a bunch of Sith Lords out there just waiting for their turn?

What the hell was up with Leia in space?

I don't know, some stuff I'm just ignoring lol.

    "Favorite Scene"
I gotta say it's Luke fighting Kylo, I think they did that right. Technically Luke would be a sharp as fuck mentally and that was the way to bring him into the action.

Although, bringing that Swing out of the water and giving us a last glimpse of fighter pilot Luke would have been dope too.

    "Coulda Been Epic Scene"
The throne room scene was awesome and I absolutely love way they killed Snoke, dope, dope, dope.

But I think there was a miss in the red guards. They looked way cooler before, the weapons were meh and the fight sequence wasn't as good as it could have been. That could have been Jedi movie history right there, both Jedi and Sith ripping through red guards in super dope choreographed fighting. instead it's just a cool scene. (I know I'm asking way too much, it was damn good)

    ----

    "Wow Scene"
When the ambassador did a kamikaze into the fleet. God damn what a fuckin move! Beautifully done. Legend.

    ----

Anyway, great flick. They better not be brother and sister.

P.S. Whats gonna happen with Leia?

    • Luke and Kylo didnt fight. Luke just stood there and dodged him.CygnusZero4
    • There was no lightsaber fights in this movie.CygnusZero4
    • There were no light saber fights in any of the 3 originals either!monospaced
    • I know, that's what made it dope. Just like a master allowing you to defeat yourself instead of attacking you. it's perfect.sofakingback
