This is going to sound harsh but I'm beyond fucking tired of dealing w/Mom & Pop clients. Cheapest fuckers on the planet whom think their dollar is supposed mimic a stretch armstrong doll...

I seriously feel 'abused' w/my latest Mom/Pop deal. They're a small time Real Estate team (Husband and FUCKING WIFE to boot so they FUCKING GANG UP ON MEEEEEE).

I just finished a pretty 'big' job for a respectable agency. Every last detail I requested was handled / managed and PERFECT I might add. Not even a flinch @ my initial quote either.

Mom & Pop? Fuck me... first off the wife starts in w/the 'we're trying to live the American dream and start a business so we're on a budget.' Why didn't I stand up and walk away right then? WhY??!

Literally OVER A YEAR LATER and I'm still waiting on content etc etc... It took them 4 months to send me a first check but for some reason I did about 3x the value of that payments worth of work only because I want them to succeed / want to help...
... but GODDAMNIT I'M GOING MAD.

Not looking for advice... I fucked this one up... I know exactly where and when I fucked up... ... just needed to rant / vent.

Fucking TIRED of Mom & Pop shops. Don't they realize I'm just as much a MOM & POP shop as them?! I just want out. I'm literally tempted to give them their fucking money back and walk. ugh

    • Stop working with them from now on? I've made that mistake in the past. Just move and say 'No' to these clients in the future.studderine
    • tell em from the start, you get what you pay for, then send those corner cutting cunts to wix where their shitty brand could do us all a favor and die.GuyFawkes
    • I don't deal with those clients anymore for the reasons you described.Hayoth
    • Fuck me, walk away from this shit. Limit your freelancing to agencies: better money, better brands, valuable contacts, far fewer headaches.Continuity
    • I hear you pony, last couple I worked with drove me nuts going back and forth. I had to give them a cutoff date. Let them know I was too busy with other jobs.sea_sea
    • That's the same experience with any small business unfortunately. Always cutting corners giving sob stories. Basically want it for free. Those are the worst.sea_sea
    • They think they know what they want, far from it. Shit they even design stuff lol seriously they should do it themselves. Fk that.sea_sea
    • I think we should interview clients before work. Build fucking around in the contract. like 50% upfront, content to be delivered by X or 50% is lost as I walkmugwart
    • always bill by the hour to protect yourselfmoldero
    • The best way is to give 50% discount right off the bat with only 2 conditions: 1. You can create whatever you want 2. You can create whatever when you want.rabattski
    • I mean they pay shit anyways, so you might as well turn it around and have fun with it.rabattski
    • Next thing you know they are asking you to fix their computers.pango
    • ^ Always this. Shit I had a guy who did tile work in my house call me on a Saturday with a computer problem.ETM
    • Mutha fucker I paid _you_ to work on my house and you feel entitled to my time. For free. On a weekend. Because we chatted for 5 mins when he was done the tile.ETM
    • For small jobs, make them put in content. The job is completed/invoiced after you've done training to show them how to make updates through the CMSfate
