I had an old iMac harddrive that died and I had a few files that I never backed up off it and ended up replacing the drive.
What are my chances someone can recover files off it? How much should that cost?
- You can get univeral cables for about $25robotron3k
- there's a good chance that it can be recovered, but cost is dependent on how "dead" that HD is, and what they have to domonospaced
- Depends how it died - mechanical failure or corruption? With mechanical failure you can pay a lot for a clean room / forensic recovery.face_melter
- With mechanical fails I have used the freezer routine with limited success. Freeze for an hour, plug in, grab files before it warms and locks up again.face_melter
