"Activision was granted a patent this month for a system it uses to convince people in multiplayer games to purchase items for a game through microtransactions.

The patent details how multiplayer matches are configured, specifically how players are selected to play with one another."

    • I'm on a bit of a sabbatical from gaming at the moment, but I've tried to avoid Activision, EA and Ubisoft for years now. Rip-off overly-commercial bastards.detritus
    • Thing is, right, loot boxes and microtransactions are very easy to ignore. When they become 'essential' for some game mechanics *then* they can get fucked.face_melter
    • Requiring paid online for some games, like the new Gran Turismo, is the way more nefarious. You lose about two thirds of game without a PSN sub.face_melter
    • Don't buy the next CODMilan
