73-year-old Tom Bookwalter designed Kansas State University’s athletics logo in 1988, which is still in use but is the least remarkable part of the story. THIS is: “The Powercat will remain Bookwalter’s property until 70 years after his death.
He assigned the copyright to K-State, and is paid about 7 percent of all money K-State gets from its use.” Boss.
- according to the linked article, the university received $1.4 million in royalties last year.Gnash
- that means he goy around %100K in royalties last yearGnash
- *gotGnash
- was never a fan of this logo, could use some refining at the very least, but good for him, which more designers got deals like this_niko
- ya, good for him. I have a few licensing deals (5%) for few bands. none of them took off, unfortunately. I still get small cheques annually, thoughGnash
- WTF is that supposed to be??Hayzilla
- duh. it's a cat with power!Gnash
- upvote for profitimbecile
- I'm with hayzilla — literally what the fuck am I looking at? It's.. beyond awful.detritus
- OH! I see it now.
ffs, that's terrible.
Good for him though!detritus - can't see a cat? either getting old, never understood design, or hater? take your pick.imbecile
- to be clear -- I didn't post it because it's a great logo. It's the 7% royalties until 70 years after he's dead! damn well played, TomGnash
- No, imbecile, i literally couldn't deconstruct what I was looking at here. It was a wholly random series of shapes to me at first.detritus
- And now that I see it, it's shit.detritus
- Kinda like that dress the other year, I guess.detritus
