so the issue was that I've set up https via cPanel in Web Hoster with SSL support and redirecting from HTTP to HTTPS with SEO friendly 301 page...

whatever...it's not working...browser shows connection insecure....

    WTF?!

I created a sub-domain in my domain and tested the page there, with Cloudflare enabled, everything works.

I know it has to do with the Server settings, what I don't understand is why the page is showing insecure...

If I remove SSL support everything works perfectly...

    What a mess!

    • uhh, i'm stoned and can't specifically remember what — but i think the way https works doesn't allow the redirects you want. I think i hit this problem recentlydetritus
    • yeah, vaguely coming back - i set up free ssl certs on some sites and then couldn't use the :#port under ssl because it's a redirect of sorts. i think.detritus
    • ^ yes, exactly. before it wasn't allowing redirects but even with the https it was working. now...oey
    • I'm probably talking out of my ass.detritus
    • this has costed me like 3 hours today already plus the test yesterday and back and forth :(oey

    • I can understand only about 25% of this post. :)monospaced
    • LOL!oey
    • are you running WP or the like? if so... there's plugins that solve this :)PonyBoy
    • Are you sure it's not because of content loading on the page from an insecure source?BabySnakes
    • no wp...i'm gonna have to write the guy again and tell him about the https redirecting issuesoey
    • yep it will be content referring to http and not https. you need to update all links to images, pages etc. to https not http.fadein11
    • I thought so too. I checked every link in the html and js files. maybe i'll do it again.oey
    • but still, is that why it doesn't detect default language and other stuff in the .htaccess file plus the robots.txt and sitempas.html?oey
    • and if the content would be referring to http links instead of https why did it work in the server where i have my own domain? I'll just check everything.oey
    • thanks!oey
    • what's going on here?sted
    • Sted, you are QBN's technical wunderkind, you are oey's only hope.detritus
    • Check that your A record is pointing to the secure IP address. We use LiquidWeb and they generate a new IP when you add SSL and you need to change the A recordelahon
    • ...manually.elahon
    • If you're using CloudFlare, to host the DNS, that's where you have to update the A record.elahon
    • hey elahon, I know that the dns records have to be properly set on the server side when using cloudflare. but i was using the web hoster's own certificate.oey
    • I can add cloudflare and ask the hoster to change the DNS records. i did that with my web hosting when i installed a nextcloud in a subdomain.oey
    • and thanks elahon!oey
    • Ahhhh, gotcha. Good luck, man!elahon
