    Blender is a great tool and really isn't THAT different if you've used 3d before. It just has some navigation quirks (eg. right click to select, Z axis up).

    After a brief learning curve, it's really powerful, and has a great community. Lots of tutorials on youtube to get you started.

    I've heard good things about Autodesk Fusion 360 for more hard-surface/product design.
