    Milk Paint Update Part 2:
We're hoping to go with a two-tone kitchen. Darker gray cabinet color on the bottom, a new quartz countertop that ties into the floor color, and the lighter colored top cabinets. Plus a grayish (not sure of style yet) tile backsplash, and a new sink.

Here is the bottom cabs I painted last night, just one coat with a 50/50 denatured alcohol and water rub down, followed by some very light sanding with 240 grit sandpaper - just to give it some texture.

Again, one coat on the top cabs with some wood putty to smooth over some seams. Still needs sanding and two more coats.

Yellow wall color will be changed after cabs are done, and countertop is installed.

And this shows the original honey oak cabinets with just one coat.

    • Thanks for sharing, I thought you were going to paint all the cabinets in "white", but not a bad idea to make it 2 tones...OBBTKN

    • Me personally I would never paint over wood cabinets showing grain, since the top cabs are already painted over I would have just painted thosemoldero

    • @moldero - I hear you. This project was planned for 2 years until we found the milk paint. The top cabinets were originally the honey oak, not painted, stoplying
    • excuse me for being lazy and not googling, but can you tell us what "milk paint" is exactly?monospaced
    • assuming its an off white like eggshell white maybe?moldero
    • @mono - it's typically for furniture refinishing and true milk paint comes in a powder form that you mix yourself. This brand is water based acrylic though.stoplying
    • @moldy Seagull Gray is the name on the can. It's not as white as it appears in these pics.stoplying
