Ex-Verizon lawyer appointed to lead FCC says he will take “weed whacker” to net neutrality under Trump

Pai consistently opposed consumer protection regulations during the three-year chairmanship of Democrat Tom Wheeler, who left the FCC today. Pai opposed net neutrality rules and, after Trump's victory, said those rules' "days are numbered."

    • ive been a supporter of net neutrality but i wouldn't mind hearing the arguments to remove it. if it could allow competition to the current ISP+GOV relationsdeathboy
    • but i just have a hard time seeing anyway of being competitive this late in the game with infrastructure costs, that tax payers probably paid a large amount ofdeathboy
    • Corporatism 2017 Go Team Trump!utopian
    • but net neutrality is pretty much corporatism... the question is if there is a way away from it that would workdeathboy
    • you're full of shit, deathboy, way off the mark as usual.BuddhaHat
    • yeah I'd do a bit more research in net neutrality deathboy - your posts here don't make any sense.inteliboy

    • im referring to the parts where they get gov funds, they collude w/gov to steal info, gov has a huge oversight and control over them. perhaps its not the worddeathboy
    • you would use. maybe feel more comfortable with regulated monopolies, or cronyism. regardless there is a case especially for privacy to not have gov controldeathboy
    • and id be interested to hear alternatives. so what exactly doesn't make sense or seems irrational about that?deathboy
    • uhhh ... compromised consumer protectionmonospaced
    • listening doesn't effect anything. and the consumer protections has a nice ring, but technically we dont know what we are protected from, especially not privacydeathboy
    • im unaware if another country has given it a shot to see how it played out. it seems completely sensible to look at alt in this political climatedeathboy
    • i also question if ISP charging services like facebook with higher costs would be a good thing. Maybe consumers have to pay or less garbage and ppl tied to it.deathboy
