I'm never in the mood for this shit, and absolutely refuse to buy Christmas gifts for grown ass adults that can buy their own gifts. Or, buy for their children who already get 5x what I got as a kid.
For the past few years I've taken that money and bought gifts for poor kids whose families can't afford it, or donated to charities that do it (usually both). Feels good and is the perfect, well not an excuse per se, but a reason not to spend on my family.
I encourage everyone to do something similar. There are kids who get fuck all for Christmas, and everyone's Mom doesn't need another purse or bracelet or whatever.
