Flu shots at our office today. I've never gotten them before. I talked to the nurse about my preconceived notions regarding the flu shot.

    1. getting the shot makes you sick

    2. only kids and old people need them

He basically said it's a dead virus they are shooting you with and you will NOT get the flu from it. You may experience sore muscle where the shot goes and a bit of a sore throat. He said when you come in contact with the flu virus it takes up to 10 days to develop symptoms and that the shot takes about 14 days to work. So people could already have the virus and then get sick in that buffer period.

About the age, he said yes they try to get young and old people first because they are most vulnerable due to weaker immune systems. He said if you travel frequently even around neighboring cities and if you have kids you are at higher risk.

The thing is I don't want to get the fucking flu. I think I'm doing it.

    • I took the shoot one time, i was part of the "on risk population", i am allergic and asthmatic, and after this i took the worst flu of my life... never againOBBTKN
    • lol or bring all your kids to the office and make them take the shot?pango

    • you could treat your body perfect every day and it wouldn't ever completely prevent getting the flumonospaced
    • also, don't listen to the idiots who say there's mercury in the flu vaccine.. they don't know what they're talking aboutmonospaced
    • not true, i know someone died from one. I haven't gotten sick with the advice of taking care of oneself with balance of eating, sleeping, shagging. no stressyurimon
    • You could still contract he flu.monospaced

    • I know what you're saying yuri, but that logic isn't sound. I haven't contracted aids either, but that doesn't mean i attribute it to eating healthymonospaced
    • you get the point ... I also don't get flu shots and haven't had the flu since the one time I had it over 30 years agomonospaced

    • maybe veins so filled with hate, it has anti viral property. hehe.yurimon
    • or, maybe, just maybe, your logic isn't as sound as you might think ... you can certainly boost an immune system, but you can't completely prevent the flumonospaced
    • i wilt and tho shalt it happened. :)yurimon
    • If you are most likely to get flu from your kids. Make them take the shot instead. Lolpango
    • I think we should be clear that a lot of people claim to have or had the flu. I can say I have had it once and it was awful. It's not a bad cold - you cannot dofadein11
    • anything. As mono says however healthy you are you can always still potentially get it.fadein11
    • ^ indeed. people thinking The Cold is the same as flu. lol at thinking that healthy living can totally prevent infection from a virus.face_melter
