was recently driving around with my kids, and got talking about 'the mamas and the papas' which i'd grown up with...and realized they didn't really know them at all....had maybe heard the opening for 'monday monday' and that was it...
we spent the rest of the drive listening to them, and they absolutely loved it...
mostly they kept asking to hear this one...which is a personal fave.....https://www.google.ca...
its the telling of how they got together as a band .... some pretty hilarious lyrics about who's who in 60's pop music (McGuinn and McGuire's just a-gettin' higher
in L.A. you know where that's at) - being a reference to two of the dudes that formed The Byrds....and how they got high a lot.. etc....

there's a really great write up on the lyrics here, and what they all mean...

as far as songs go, it's great...super catchy....
but i truly love the lyrics and how well they capture not only the creation of the mamas and the papas, but a bit of who's who from the folk music scene and the pop scene in the early to mid 60's....
