hey since1979...
don't worry cause:
people don't always agree, people have bad days, people have to take the shit out of them into someone else, there's some haters, there's some trolls, there's some assholes, there's difficult themes, there's envy...and so on.
besides it's not a popularity contest.
and it's easy to annoy someone by downvoting if people know that the person gets it personally or offended...but truth is this is a great community.
with all our differences.
and if you have a serious question or doubts about things that matter there's lots of people here ready to help and give advice.it takes time, it's true but in the end it's totally worth it.
sometimes you ask something about some serious issue and in the middle of the helpful answers you will get a joke, a bit of trolling or whatever.

I came to the conclusion is better to stay away from some discussions if one sees (s)he thinks differently but it's totally worth to stay for the advices, sharing and laughs.
stay longer and check technical threads or professional questions or something like that.
or the Useful Thread you know?
don't open yourself too much specially in the blog.
