October? If the leaves are changing, get to High Park or Trinity-Bellwoods.
West Queen West is a good area to get a bit of everything – the trendier bars and restos and shops (and Bellwoods Brewery is there, with a heated patio if needed). Dundas West, a few blocks north too (eat at Saving Grace, drink at Archive or Old School, get some pies at Pie Commission and head to the park).
Get to Bar Raval in Littly Italy.
Kensington Market, as mentioned, is worth checking out if there's a street party.
The AGO just west of the Chinatown downtown, if you're looking to get some culturificatin'.
Pick up a Bixi bike and take the ferry to the Islands, or go over to the Leslie Street Spit.
