T-minus 1 hour until my mid-year review where my will undoubtedly throw me under the bus and base 6 months of successful work on a misstep that lasted a mere week.

3 outcomes I've been going over.

    1) I'm terminated. The company's revenue is down, there's another reorg happening today (second one in 8 months btw), perfect time for the boss whom I don't see eye to eye with to let me go.

    2) She gives me a shit review, it screws me on my merit increase and bonus, and I quit because damnit my team and I accomplished some incredible things this year.

    3) I get an at best average review and wish QBN had a thread delete button.

    Management sucks.

    • ugh. "... review where my BOSS will undoubtedly..."kona
    • Don't worry too much about what you can't control old chap. Even if you get fired, who knows, you might be in a far better place in a few months because of it.set
    • Chin up man...hoping for the best for you.stoplying
    • holy shit, you're speaking my exact words konamonospaced
    • btw, it's always 3) ... always... they're probably too lazy to fire you and have to hire someone else anywaymonospaced
    • thanks fellas. mono, i'd like to think i'm rather perceptive, and i believe my boss has been grooming one of my sr designers to take over my rolekona
    • On the other hand, if the grooming thing is the case, possibility #4 is you get promoted to ECD!Continuity
    • lol. she would rather gouge her eyes out than see me succeed in a larger role across the companykona
    • Well, then it really does sound like to me like she needs to fuks herself up the arse with the splintered end of a broken cricket bat.Continuity
    • It also sounds to me like getting the sack could actually be a blessing in disguise, even if it doesn't seem like it at the minute.Continuity
    • This arse fucking you speak of, is that with or without lube?autoflavour
    • Without, naturally.Continuity
    • I've been there. You think you're gonna get fired, and then it turns out it's just 3) and nobody really pays that much attention to you in the first place.monospaced
    • Seriously, I really hope it goes well. If it does, you have the freedom to look around for another position, stress free.monospaced
    • May your puckered anus trumpet squeaky notes of relief before too longdetritus
    • FUCK 'EM!!!! YEEEEHAAAWstudderine
    • Detritus, you're somewhat fixated on dildos and anusses today. What are you trying to tell us?Continuity
    • (I know, it's rich coming from someone prescribing broken cricket bat anal self-fucking)Continuity
    • Howd it go? Was yoday your last day? ^__ยบshellie
    • well, after 15 minutes waiting in her office her assistant finally sends a meeting update for monday, same time. the positive is I don't have to worrykona
    • about not having a job over the weekend. so yay... small wins.kona
    • bah... now you gotta think about it all weekend though.Al_dizzle
    • Not if I drink enoughkona
    • My favorite advice to give in these situations is to find another job solely for the sake of leverage.SteveJobs
    • Then you have the freedom to speak your mind with full confidence and call their bluff when they'd normally begin to swing their weight or threaten firing you.SteveJobs
    • And worst case scenario, they do start to fire you but you beat them to the punch, quit, and go take your backup job. *deal with it sunglasses*SteveJobs
    • Best case scenario, they respect you more, and you walk out with a raise and a promotion. *deal with it sunglasses*SteveJobs
    • Fired/lay-off is better than quit. Fired is generally comes with severance.IRNlun6
    • how'd it go?timeless
    • I wonder if she read your qbn passage and had second thoughts?since1979
    • best of luck. keep us updated on the storysince1979
    • honestly, unless you did something specific to warrant being "fired," you'd worst case be "let go" with some kind of severancemonospaced
    • Getting fired is a right of passage, putting your livelihood on the line means you care more than most. Decent employers know this. It's a gift in disguise.monoboy
    • I agree with you mono. fuck pride. get fired.since1979
    • @since1979, what the fuck are you talking about? I didn't say thatmonospaced
    • oh... that monomonospaced
    • Well, that got confusing!Continuity
    • Monoboy. Keksince1979
    • I've been... terminated. And it's fucking liberating.kona
