Public Holiday in Uruguay today. July 18th, 1830 is the date when the first Constitution of Uruguay was written.
Although it's nice to have a day off (specially because of the cold weather), it's weird that nothing related to the actual date is going on. I mean NOTHING!
it's like if everyone agreed on saying "Great! a holiday weekend, let's celebrate nothing by doing nothing"... Pretty sad.
- are you near the coast? do you guys often hop over to Buenos Aires or no?HijoDMaite
- Yes, I'm 5 blocks from the South Coast of Montevideo. Buenos Aires is an hour ferry away from here, I go every now and then. $100 ferry + $250 hotel + $250 foodmaquito
- Not something "easy" to do every weekend...maquito

- Yes! the "Rambla" is a popular spot for locals in Summer. Pretty good beaches and cool placer very close to Mvd. Downtown.maquito
