I agree that sensationalizing things just gives the thug what they want. However, it's important that we know what's going on and, personally, I'd rather find a diversity of opinions here, from all over the world (not to mention some anonymity so people can comment freely) vs. Facebook. I don't go reading news sites and I don't have cable tv.

As long as people are discussing, which they usually are, this is a productive place and a "real" discussion, or as real as it can possibly be.

Now, for the negative sensationalizing, that's all on the media and pay-per-click model, "custom" tailored feeds that pump people full of only their view, etc. You want to blame someone, go blame Facebook (and soon others) for their Live video - that is going to give so many ample reason to go out with a horrible bang, as long as the world sees.

    • Fair enough, I rather not have to know the guys name and life story thoughterry_cloth
    • And the inevitable politicisation may be a discussion but that doesn't make it any less inanpropriateterry_cloth
    • I sometimes wonder what would result if the media never reported on things like this.monospaced
    • I don't think it's a matter of whether to report on it or not but how it's reported. The media is just giving us what we want, when we stop consuming the sensatterry_cloth
    • -ionalized crap they will stop churning it out. In other words, it's no going to stop untill there is a mass public outcryterry_cloth
