    I have to agree with set, et al: this really was the most boring and tedious championship of any sort in recent memory, and I blame the format.

    If you're in a 24-team group stage, and you know that — unless you're complete and utter cunting numpties — you have a more than reasonable chance of advancing, then you're not likely to be playing particularly memorable football. There's simply no motivation to do so until much later.

    Having said that, the one moment that I think was stonking was Jérôme Boateng's absolutely magnificent goal-line clearance in the match v Ukraine. Proper, proper stunning piece of defending.
