    just went to a Gudarati Indian funeral -- an hour of blessing foodstuffs and placing them in the deceased's lips and coffin, another half-hour of chanting, followed by eulogies and the public cremation of the body.

    the women can't eat food all day (but do anyway) and some were saying they're not supposed to drink water, because of the fact that they may be on their periods. the whole family has to shower before they can do anything after the funeral to wash off all the death.
