My wife and I fell a little too in love with a house we wanted to buy, even though we put our offer in while it was already in contingency with another buyer. Tried to outbid them and make the offer more favorable to the seller, but 99.99% sure it's not going to work unless there's a technicality or the existing buyer somehow doesn't have the money.
Number one rule in home shopping: do not fantasize too wildly about living in a place before you have a signed contract and a closing date.
