I am surprised by the Savior sympathizers.

If you know nothing else about them, you know they stop people on the road and rob them blind without discrimination. They admitted to usually just killing someone randomly at the beginning of a robbery to demonstrate they mean business. They run a mafia protection racket on Hilltop, and likely other groups, rather than work for their survival. They choose to kill without cause.

Rick’s plan was cold, but strategic (in his mind). These guys are a threat, and he wasn’t going to let them knock on their door, like the Wolves just did and kill more people. It’s pretty clear the Saviours wouldn’t be a group to reason with, so you get the upper hand instead. You also get a one-off deal for food with another apparently peaceful group that will establish a trade relationship. Given the shitty existence they have, I’d think it was pretty clear too.
Rick kills when he needs to, but he doesn’t kill without reason. He doesn’t rob people and kill them. He doesn’t run extortion rings in order to survive on nothing but violence.

    • it's not sympathy for the saviours. for me it was an ill thought out plan.

no recon at all. this does not compute.

    • They used the info provided by people who have been there before and even knew some of the interior layout.ETM
    • one guy. and he didn't know much. they assumed everything.Gnash
    • Recon what? There's one way in and only two guards at night. You can't get in to scope the layout, so what recon did you have in mind?ETM
    • recon the area. see if there's another camp near by the other guy missed. confirm the guys recollection - he didn't seem the most experienced of strategists.Gnash
    • What is there was a turret up top -- "uh, you never asked if there was a turret, rick"Gnash
