I disagree, Ben. Once upon a time websites couldn't be created by anyone, which is why there are web designers and companies. But now I can make a nice site myself without them.

Same thing will happen, and is happening, with apps. The fact that there are millions of apps, most of them shit, is evidence that pretty much anyone can create one.

The internet will never be "owned" by big corporations either. Any attempt ever at regulating it, or its content, has failed miserably. Even suggesting it pretty much sounds like infringement of basic human rights.

The internet will always be for the people, by the people ... and porn.

    • to a degree yes, but the internet certainly isn't the democratic/alternati... platform it was back in the 90's. but that's fine, its big enough to cater for bothfadein11
    • True, but when I see how a revolution in the middle east was fueled by the youth using twitter, then I have faith that in some places it still ismonospaced
    • How do you figure it could 'never' be owned by big corps mono? They are trying real hard...bklyndroobeki
    • Because I'm old enough to know how the internet came about I guess. its more in the hands of the geeks and people than you might think.monospaced
    • It's not centralized, by definition. Plus nobody on the planet would stand for having that threatened in any way.monospaced
    • Not arguing w/ you. I just if the gen. public knows how much legal advocacy, lobbying, and ground work goes into keeping access open. To say "nobody"bklyndroobeki
    • would stand for it, maybe nobody in our circles.bklyndroobeki
