So I'm in a situation where I can give folks good advice but I struggle to decide for my own:

I'm unhappy at my current work place, no 'cool' jobs, no career. I have an offer from a company doing more development, but I rather want to work as a designer. I have a second opportunity but signs are that the pay would be not good but the place is cool.

    So:
    1. Stay in safe, old job but don't more forward
    2. Risk new dev job with good pay, but could be over on six months if I don't perform that good
    3. Go to another design firm, develop myself forward but don't get paid well

    ???

    • Ive never done this. can you ask the other company to at least match the pay?pango
    • 4. Pick the one that pays best with less hours. Build your own side business as an additional source of income.IRNlun6
    • ^ already have a side business going, maybe it's possible with the 3. company and less hoursmekk
    • depends on your financial stability also what moves you make. How, why not confident you will not perform as expected at the dev job?yurimon
    • Life is short, do what makes you happy as long as it pays your bills. Make good work and get new good paying job in future from it?bainbridge
    • .....unless new dev job is paying like $500,000, then suck it up.bainbridge
