Revisited "Signs" by M Night Shyamalan. Excellent movie.
I didn't really like this when I first saw it. Thought it was ok, but not great, and I didn't like the ending. But, after re-watching, I must say it's VERY good. Fantastic directing, acting (the little girl is only FIVE and even she is great and I can't think of a better Mel Gibson performance), cinematography. Full of symbolism. Lots of references to classic films/filmmaking. The holy water / demons theory holds up.
If you love classic cinematography, this is a must-see. Gorgeous.
I think mostly people don't like it because it's an "alien invasion" movie without the huge epic qualities of something like War of the Worlds, ID, etc. But, this movie is about faith, how we all see what we want to see in things, and how we all have our own demons and fears.
